About Us

This is a compact urban practice based in a Health Centre owned by NHS Property Services. The clinical team consists of four Partners two salaried Doctors, four Nurses and a two Health Care Assistant. Management is provided by Mrs Suzanne Sleeman and she is supported by seven receptionists, three administration staff and a Medical Secretary.

Our Practice is based in Stifford Clays and North Grays. Stifford Clays was a large Council Estate built in the early 1950s with good quality housing (a major determinant of health). This is now mainly owner-occupied. There is a large proportion of older people (20% over the age of 65).

Many of our older patients have relatives living in Thurrock who provide support. Traditionally unemployment rates have been low in Thurrock but this may change with the current economic crisis.

We have been a GP Training Practice since 2004 but have trained Nurses for far longer. We train all levels of Doctors in conjunction with the training programmes at Basildon University Hospital. All the Partners and Staff are very committed to providing high-quality training.

As a Group Practice we aim to provide a high-quality service to our patients with an emphasis on evidence-based practice. It is very important to reflect upon how we manage patients and use discussion with Colleagues for support. The Partners meet every weekday to share information and discuss problems. On a Friday we are joined by the District Nurses and Community Matron. The Practice aims for consistency in clinical behaviour between clinicians working within the Practice.

We are a paper light practice. All records are computerised, but information is only shared with the permission of the patient or when clinically necessary. Results arrive electronically. Blood tests are normally available within 1 or 2 working days, urine results 2 or 3 days and x-rays about 1 week. Results can be obtained by phoning reception.

Clinicians can be contacted by phone as well as through routine and emergency appointments. Prescriptions should be requested in writing, online/app or via email (phone calls are prone to errors). Visits are easily available when clinically necessary but do require that the individual is too ill to leave their house.

Out of hours contacts are for very urgent cases and can be arranged by phoning the Health Centre.

There is a patient participation group (PPG) and everyone is welcome to provide comments, opinions and solutions via the comments box in reception or via this website.

Our Practice Manager is involved in the day-to-day management of the practice and she will be happy to help you with any non-medical or administrative aspect of your health care.
